Community of practice

PURPOSE AND PEOPLE

Our community of practice is for people who are working on locally-led community projects which aim to shift power, in the UK or abroad. You may be working within your own communities or as part of an organisation that supports local projects.

There are several other networks that overlap in this community of practice: SONEC (the Sociocratic Neighbourhood Circles network), the Transition Network, the Neighbourhood Democracy Movement, and the Alternative Global, to name a few.

We meet from 10-12pm (UK time) on the last Thursday of every month.

In these sessions, we are building relationships, hearing about and learning from each other’s practice, solving each other’s problems, sharing resources, and catalysing further collaboration.

We share an open-hearted commitment to inclusion, learning and mutual support. This makes it much easier for us to do the complex, system-shifting, relationship-building, holistic work that we’re all committed to. We aim for the space to be co-created by participants and facilitators, and are still at the beginning of our development journey.

We ask participants to make a good faith effort to attend every month for this 2hr session. Those who want to help facilitate and steer the project are also invited to do so.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN

We invite you to attend an on-boarding session first, where we will meet each other, introduce our ways of working and objectives, clarify doubts and gather your feedback.

Onboarding sessions happen on the 2nd Friday of every month, from 11-12.30pm UK time. If you would like to attend the on-boarding session, please let Carolina know which month you would like to attend by emailing: cdowneyoliveira@gmail.com

MONEY

At the moment, we are able to offer this to all participants for free. We may add fees on a sliding scale as our current funding runs out.
